Apple’s WWDC keynote on Monday focused on video games with a new game mode and special guest.
Game Mode is a feature coming to MacOS 14 Sonoma, the company’s latest operating system for desktops and MacBooks, first announced at WWDC on Monday. The new mode prioritizes CPU and GPU cycles during gaming and doubles the Bluetooth sampling rate to lower controller and speaker latency. There will also be a new toolkit that will make it easier for developers to port their games to the Mac.
A surprise appearance on the show was famed developer Hideo Kojima. He has expressed his appreciation for Mac computers and revealed that his game, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, will be released on the Mac later this year. Kojima also said that his studio is working on future titles that will come to Apple’s platform.
WWDC is Apple’s annual event to showcase new software including iOS17, iPadOS and WatchOS. The company is also introducing new hardware, such as the 15-inch MacBook Air.
