Steve Wojciechowski Joins Jazz G League Team as Coach, Insider Says

The Salt Lake City Stars, the G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, are hiring former market coach Steve Wochechowski as head coach, a source told ESPN on Friday.

Wojciezowski, who has lived in the Salt Lake City area since leaving the market in 2021, is eager to make the leap to professional coaching and is currently one of the youngest franchises in the 2023 NBA Draft. He has three round picks.

He has spent time with the Jazz organization over the last two years, especially in the 2021-22 season, thanks to his longstanding relationship with former Jazz coach Quinn Snyder. Wojciechowski attended jazz practice last season and spent time building a relationship with coach Will Hardy.

Wojciechowski joins Snyder as one of several college coaches who transitioned to the NBA through the G League. In the G League, coaching and development are often top priorities for the organization over results on the standings.

Wojciechowski went 128-95 (.574) in seven seasons on the market, making two NCAA Tournament appearances and one NIT appearance. After Market, he spent the summer as an assistant coach for USA Basketball’s 2022 American Cup team.

Wojciechowski was named All-American Player of the Year and National Defenseman of the Year at Duke, and spent 15 seasons as an assistant under Hall of Fame coach Mike Kuszewski.
