The singer Lady Gaga, who sported a faded black T-shirt and ripped jeans on stage introduced her song as the one she wrote for best picture nominee “Top Gun: Maverick”;
The audience applauded her with a standing ovation at end of the song,
original “Top Gun” director Tony Scott with a dedication appeared on an overhead screen at the Dolby Theatre.

She shared a heartfelt spiel about “Hold My Hand”‘s message, “It’s deeply personal for me, and I think that we all need each other.” continued saying “We need a lot of love to walk through this life, and we all need a hero sometimes. There are heroes all around us in unassuming places, but you might find that you can be your hero, even if you feel broken inside.”
Gaga is the first artist to receive three nominations in the best original song category with “Holy My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick” following “Til It Happens to You” from “The Hunting Ground” in 2016 and “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born” in 2019.
She appeared first on-stage debut in 2015, delivered a medley of four songs from “The Sound of Music” to honor that film on its 50th anniversary.
