Actor Keanu Reeves is famous not only for action films like John Wick, The Matrix and Point Break, but also for romantic comedies like Something’s Gotta Give and Always Be My May Be, he also crossed the limits of his fame.
This weekend, he had a funny response to the news that German scientists have named a newly discovered compound after him because they are so effective in action. During an AMA event, Reeves wrote on Reddit, “Hi, thanks, “, “They should have called it John Wick… but it sounds too good to me… and real. But thanks, scientists! Good luck, and thanks for helping us.”
As many have noted on social media, this is a statement that could only be read in the voice of his “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure character,” Ted.
The “help” Reeves referred to is what the compound – kinomycin – could potentially do. Experts are optimistic that it will be able to destroy fungi in crops and fungal infections in people, which is huge.
“Lipopeptides kill so efficiently,” Sebastian Götz, lead author of the study that explains the molecule, told Phys.org. “We named them after Keanu Reeves, because he is also extremely lethal in his roles.” Reeves was like that too.
During the event, he was asked if he ever regretted turning down any role. He replied that he did not repent. However, he added, “But I’ve always wanted to play Wolverine.”
For an instance, when answering a question about his first pet, he said that he had a guinea pig named Carrot when he was 5 or 6 years old. “She was a sweetie-pie,” wrote Reeves.
When he was asked what drives him to be so compassionate, he had a simple answer: “We die…and we all need all the help we can get.”
Reeves will be back on movie screens Friday, when John Wick: Chapter 4 arrives in theaters.
