The 2023 Cannes Film Festival is well underway in Cannes, France, and the red carpet has already delivered many spellbinding style moments. Elle Fanning, Viola Davis and Gemma Chan have all landed for the case.
Another star who’s in town? Katie Holmes, who attended Kering’s Women in Motion Talk event on Wednesday, May 16. The event was more casual than the first red carpet megawatts the festival is known for, but the actress still provided plenty of outfit inspiration with her laid-back and cool ensemble. Holmes wore a lime green t-shirt with a yellow button-down and matching palazzo pants. But it’s her shoe choice that’s the real focal point.

Katie Holmes ditched the traditional Cannes sky-high heels in favor of Le Monde Beryl’s blue satin knotted kitten-heeled mules, what retail for $515. They feature a 35mm heel, barely there. While the stylish star has worn high heels before (like when she repeatedly wore The padded heels of Bottega Veneta), Holmes has proven to be a fan of more grounded shoe styles: she’s worn block-heeled Mary Janes, Chloé clogs, and Acne Studios loafers, among others. She’s a New Yorker, after all. Her shoe wardrobe is built around practicality for walking around town. It goes to show that you don’t need skyscraper stilettos to look dressy. Team Kitten Heel!
