Cornel West, an Ivy League scholar and outspoken progressive activist, announced Monday that he is running for president under the People’s Party banner.
“I have decided to run for truth and justice, which takes the form of running for President of the United States as the People’s Party candidate,” West said in a video announcement on Twitter. . “I go in search of the truth. I enter for the quest for justice. And the presidency is just one of the vehicles through which we pursue this truth and justice.
The 70-year-old former philosophy professor has created a website where he exposes his platform. Mr. West campaigns on a variety of high-profile political goals, including guaranteed health care, the abolition of all medical debt, the closure of all foreign military bases, the dissolution of NATO, the cancellation of all student debt and the adoption of term limits in Congress.

“We’re not talking about hating anyone – we’re talking about loving, we’re talking about affirming, we’re talking about empowering those who have been pushed to the margins, because no political party wants to speak the truth on Wall Street, about Ukraine, about the Pentagon, about Big Tech,” West said in his campaign video.
Mr. West is a former professor of the practice of public philosophy at Harvard University. He is currently Professor Emeritus at Princeton University.
Mr. West has also been a figure in popular culture, such as his cameos in “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions.”
