The Cleveland Browns now have a stud across from Myles Garrett on the defensive line.
The Browns reportedly acquired three-time Pro Bowler The Darius Smith from the Minnesota Vikings on Friday.
Smith spent his first four NFL seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, a fourth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, but it wasn’t until he joined the Green Bay Packers that he really hit the ground running.

After signing a four-year contract with Green Bay, he made back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances and was a second-team All-Pro in 2020. After missing most of 2021 with an injury, he signed a three-year deal with Minnesota. . He requested a trade earlier this offseason.
Smith appeared in his third Pro Bowl in the 2022 season, started 16 games, and was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month in October.

Smith effectively replaces Jadeveon Clowney, who was released by the Browns in March after a rocky tenure. Cleveland currently has two studs on its defensive line.
The Browns also sent 2025 sixth- and seventh-round picks while regaining fifth-round picks in both 2024 and 2025. Per NFL Network.
Garrett had a career-high 16 sacks with the Browns last season and was named All-Pro for the fourth time.

The trade will continue to revolutionize Cleveland’s pursuit of the playoffs. The Browns will acquire Deshawn Watson for a full season, assuming he stays healthy, but they also acquired wide receiver Elijah Moore in a trade with the New York Jets.

Smith is guaranteed just under $12 million this year and will likely be a free agent again next year.
